Geist Half Marathon, Inc. officials announced today that $45,000 will been donated this week to four Geist-area schools to fund health and wellness initiatives. Proceeds are from the 2010 St. Vincent Geist Half Marathon & 5K Presented by Comcast held on May 22, 2010 which was sold out with over 6,800 participants. Moneys are earmarked for health and wellness programs within the schools.

“Another great community effort,” said Tom Britt, President of the Geist Half Marathon. “We present these checks on behalf of our board of directors, sponsors, participants, and the over 700 volunteers that donated their time.”

In addition to the $45,000 disbursed this week, an additional $20,000 has been set aside for the 2011 Geist Half Marathon Grant Program.
