For the third straight year in a row, the marquis event at Geist Reservoir has sold out, attracting runners and walkers from 29 different states and five countries.
“Support for our event has grown over the last three years,” said Tom Britt, President and founding board member of the Geist Half Marathon Inc. “Besides selling out the field, we’ve also attracted more corporate sponsors and volunteers than ever before. Word is getting around as to how special this race really is.”
The “Race Around the Reservoir” will take place on Saturday, May 22nd, beginning on the north end of Geist Reservoir near 113th Street and Olio Road and ending at the Geist Marina Village. This 13.1 mile course offers participants one of the most scenic races Indiana has to offer.
Proceeds from the race will be donated to Geist-area schools in support of health and wellness programs. Recently, the Geist Half Marathon Inc. announced that $45,600 had been donated from last year’s race proceeds. This year, more than 1,400 Central Indiana school kids will be taking part in the race under the umbrella of their school-sponsored training programs.
